new player: chat block feature? username rules?

Hello,

It seems like this may not be a new request (the thread I found was left alone in March) but I just joined this game today and when I logged in I was immediately confronted with a barrage of hate speech, slurs, and holocaust denial. I am new so I asked if there was a way to block or report and the players said that the "ruler of the realm" could but nobody seemed to know who that was. It also seemed like maybe this chatter wasn't actually a person but was a bot, but this felt very hostile and it would seem like a good idea to have a kind of filter so I could right click on a person and choose "block" or even "report to realm". This went on for several minutes.

Afterwards a very helpful person with a gay slur in their name ("somef*g") explained how to get on the forums.

I know that when you have an MMO you can't control everything that is said, but you can empower people to remove themselves from that type of harassment. I am very curious to see what the response is from the community/devs/mods because I guess I'm trying to figure out if it's worth investing in what seems like an otherwise interesting world.

Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about this other than switch to another tab. The developers believe in free speech and that if you dislike what someone is saying or doing - kill them. and Unfortunately, most people can't kill Snail, which is why most other whiners come to the forums to complain about them instead of killing them. Snail is ruler of the realm for a reason.

The skill gap in true PvP in this game is it's only flaw and it's not even necessarily the games fault, so the rest of us just have to switch tabs and keep our heads down. Stay safe in there.

And also most of the time it is a bot, not actually Snail, because Snail can't be bothered to do anything but PvP lol

Let snail (or this bot) say anything that they want; I'm saying that they shouldn't be able to force everyone to be their audience. Let them yell obscenities to those who want to hear it, and if no one wants to hear it, let it be yelled into the void. You can have the ability to type whatever you want, but currently this game forces everyone be a captive audience; I would like to play the game without being demeaned. I have access to no other realm, there is no other server, there is no mute button.

Sure he can talk like a literal Nazi but those fee fees are very very hurt by anyone saying he / she is a boy. Its cute that he is triggered by misgendering him.

I definitely wish there was a mute for the realm chat at least, I understand not being able to mute someone in local (without killing them) because you can't just 'mute' someone IRL. But the closest we have is if someone with permissions outright bans someone from talking in the realm, and I don't think they'd ban their own spam bots lol. Best you can do is swap to Local where dialogue matters.
