Amazon Game Studios couldn't figure out a system where there was enough incentive to opt-in for PvP, and New World didn't even have permadeath.
The most actively maintained Haven and Hearth Wiki (Not guaranteed to be up-to-date with all w14 changes.)

Opt in pvp is code for removing pvp.
I would have fun in a pvpless world.
