There should be magnetic stones that you could randomly dig up when mining magnetite or chipping magnetite boulders.

It should be something special, like a curio for sure? Maybe you could tie it into a fishing rod and fish up keyrings and stuff?

Or maybe you could craft something that points you somewhere with them?

only a tiny amount of naturally occurring magnetite is magnetized lodestone, it's like incredibly super rare and also super unimpressively strong

I think it would have no realistic use in the haven and hearth world and would probably just be smelted for iron like a regular piece of ore

The leading theory is that lodestones are magnetized by the strong magnetic fields surrounding lightning bolts.[9][10][11] This is supported by the observation that they are mostly found near the surface of the Earth, rather than buried at great depth.[10]

Should be only found on the highest layers perhaps?

I think magnets is a bad idea because I don't see how a magnet will add anything to the game. There is no conventional use for a weak magnet besides being a curio and I think we have enough random curios that pop out while mining.
