Game Suggestion: Mint

Postby abt79 » Fri Apr 29, 2022 8:50 pm

Around this time a few years ago I suggested Garlic, a fitting addition to add flavor to our Haven and Hearth cooking experience.

I return to you once more bearing the gift of new flavoring ideas, this time with a more traditional “Herb”: Mint!

To be found in your local <insert obscure type of wetland or grassland here>! Hoard ‘em, spice ‘em, stick 'em in a Garden Pot! They’re even native to the parts of Europe hafen is set in, unlike those dirty, foreign “apples” and “chickens”.

Might also be neat to include a specific subcategory of “sweet/desert spices” to enhance your pies, cakes, and sweets, with Mint being the first. But of course Mint could be used in any spice-optional cooking recipe to tasty results. Maybe we could even boil up some Mint Jelly?

I can think of lots of uses for mint, from medicinal tea to peppermint oil midge repellent :o ???

+1 for more spices and herbs

Bump. This idea is great and I have no clue why it's not in yet. Also possibly press it into mint oil and mix it with vegetable oil and camomile to make a cooling/mentholated salve for bum burn, bird lung, coaler's cough, and pipewheeze. A mint oil could be applied to your skin to prevent midges from chasing for a short time, maybe 5 minutes. It could be used as a spice or ingredient, like chives.

Problem with making Mint (or some product of it) a form of "any spice" is that it will add to the already extreme bloat of the food system.

Problem isn't necessarily even the amount of food combinations but the fact that spices can have completely unpredictable effects, giving completely different attributes when used in different dishes.

Mint is special. It adds a static charisma bonus :ugeek:
