Please read whole thread before posting. It's obvious that you only answered the title of thread not the content. Shubla said that water is too dangerous because it kills instantly instead KO like some animals do! Right thing to make game more consistent is either make animals kill you always or make water KO only(better option).

They reintroduced aggressive animals sometimes killing players a long time ago. The only former major cause of death that's still absent is PvP (except in very unusual cases), and removal of permadeath there is a good thing considering how horribly one-sided and unavoidable* PvP tends to be.

* Before anyone goes 'just carry four waterskins and git gud' again, I'm referring to the very start of the conflict - you can walk around bears, but PvPers aggro you the same moment you learn they're near meaning there's no way to avoid getting locked into combat.

This man gets it. Its not that water should be safe necessarily, but its odd to have it as the single most dangerous thing in the game.

Is it really that odd, though? It's not like water can't be plenty dangerous IRL as well.

Kinda doesn't apply when there's this thing called KO protection in the game.
Allow us to hearth when KO'd in the water.

What's odd is the disconnect. Most people would expect being knocked over by a hostile fox IRL would just involved you getting gored to death, but it's a tolerable wound and you TP home magically. Water doesn't have a "you messed up, lose 30% of your hard HP" mechanic that the rest of the game has for "commonly encountered dangers". It would make more sense if say fresh water had a KO effect, ocean water had a Permadeath effect. Because it's the same type of gradient system like boar -> bear in terms of danger.

TBH I just want to see a KO wound type for drowning, a more severe one for ocean drowning, to bring it in line with other damage types.

bc IRL is the source and destinatioon of all ideas in the game. lets not hang onto that too much, after all, in (medieval?) norse countries we have lemons and whales. and glassblowing. (or instert your own grievance)

But it's so counter intuitive to think you'd die from water, but not by getting cleaved by a 6 foot steel axe at 100 openings.

You should get knocked out, float without further drowning, and able to hearth.

Not only is the KO punishment enough, it also prevents the current meta of drowning sprucecaps without commited murder.

drowning could be deeep water only, knarr vs knarr shit.
