Further integrating Archery into the combat system.

As the title suggests I believe that Archery could be further expanded upon in the combat system.

Right now Archery is kind of lackluster and is not even a viable option in PvP or even PvE for that matter as there are better options in melee combat. With the current hunting meta being Boar spear on a boat with Quick barrage and Full circle, occasionally with opportunity knocks, it's generally the go to for mid to late game hunting while archery is an option that's just it...an option. As for PvP it's not even viable as player can just sidestep incoming Arrows with their lightening fast reflexes and rush the archer to unleash a can of whoop ass.

I feel a potential solution to this is adding new bow and arrow types that do various thing E.G an arrow that can bounce across water (such an arrow actually has been historically use by the ancient Finns) or arrows more oriented to piecing armor or inflicting openings for support via combat moves in the form of "Shots" E.G "Curve Shot" to hit around corners or hit moving targets (like how throwing axes currently work).


just putting out some thoughts I truly believe Archery can be just as good as melee combat.

archery has been tweaked many times and its either viable in which case everyone hates it and complains or its not in which case only a handful of wannabe archers complain

but I agree with you, I dont know why it cant just be integrated into the combat system meaning arrows increase openings and only deal significant damage to people with high openings, it makes so much more sense than a projectile that totally bypasses the system therefore has to be shit, and is annoying af and completely irrelevant vs high tier armor

Archery bad. Stop wasting effort trying to make shit work when there's no good ideas on how to make it work. All ranged attacks should have 0 armor pen, and just be relegated to the nooby method of hunting.

Archery good. Need different arrowhead types for higher armor pen but lower damage, and higher damage with lower pen. Broadhead vs bodkin.

I feel like archery could topple the very delicate balance of pvp that has been crafted entirely through trial and error over the past decade.

I'm fine if archery has significant advantages in the pve sphere as its niche, although it doesn't really have that right now beyond week one.

Something could be done with it. But we need testing it before putting it live. We could have this fully integrated with combat system so shoot would be attack that you put in your deck but after you activate this move you'd need to aim it like today. This way we could have different shoot moves for different weapons using different openings and having IP costs, cooldowns etc.
