I've made 3 while doing a quest and they completed when expected so after not being in the area for 15 minutes.
The 3 were kinda in the middle of nowhere and my place isn't populated at all so I'd be surprised if people loaded the map in that timespan.

It's hit or miss. I've lit pyres and come back 15 minutes later to find the hive ready for harvest, and I've come back to a pile of ash with no hive enough times to know someone didn't walk by and pluck it before I did. I guess it just depends on whether the area gets dumped or repopped, kind of like how animals and foragables will occasionally disappear by merely going in and out of a house.
After about 5 more minutes, then both the bough pyre remains and unprotected beehive both despawn.
