A faster alternative to smoke out the bees, for the cost of slightly more prep and materials

Bough pyres kinda suck, almost entirely because you have to keep the area loaded.

I'd rather they be an active thing that takes 1-2 minutes, because keeping areas loaded is a feelsbad.

Are you sure about that?
I've made 3 while doing a quest and they completed when expected so after not being in the area for 15 minutes.
The 3 were kinda in the middle of nowhere and my place isn't populated at all so I'd be surprised if people loaded the map in that timespan.

It's hit or miss. I've lit pyres and come back 15 minutes later to find the hive ready for harvest, and I've come back to a pile of ash with no hive enough times to know someone didn't walk by and pluck it before I did. I guess it just depends on whether the area gets dumped or repopped, kind of like how animals and foragables will occasionally disappear by merely going in and out of a house.

According to wiki you have 5 minutes once the bough pyre is done :

After about 5 more minutes, then both the bough pyre remains and unprotected beehive both despawn.

Unfortunally I don't remember the timespan for maps to "refresh" when no one in the area but my guess is 15 min is enough (I vaguely remember 10 mins, it's been too long since I played "seriously").
My sample size (3) is way too lo for me to be sure though.
