Primitive Materials

Postby Cellites » Thu Aug 25, 2022 5:13 am

Considering the recent addition of "primitive" tents I feel a change is needed, I would like to suggest the addition of several new "primitive" materials. These materials would have a few very key traits. Firstly these materials would be alternatives to other more advanced materials eg. "primitive" cloth vs. "fine" cloth. Secondly certain recipes will require the "fine" version of a material. And lastly that these materials when crafted will regardless of materials used in their crafting or the skill of the crafter be hard caped to Q10 or below. I feel the implementation of a system such as this would allow for the devs to expand the early game and would mean that things like the new tents would be reasonable to create for hermits and wanderers.

It would also reduce the impact of finally gaining access to e.g. cloth. I think a better solution would be to add a truly primitive tent that can actually be made with primitive materials.

Like I said, these primitive materials would not be usable in all recipes that require the fine version. Think of it like the difference between fine plant fibre and generic string.

Other than the primitive tent mentioned (I'm convinced it was just an opium misclick to make that cloth jorb), everything else needing cloth is more or less intended to be tech gated.

What other recipes would you think should be prim cloth?

The intent of this was for things like the tent, the trade stand, and other items that don't take quality into consideration. in addition this would allow for more early game recipes to be added that would logically require later game materials but would logically be available in a more simplistic form.
