why should hitching posts be special?

Just shovelplant saplings and rope giant wild animals to them like the rest of us.

Yea this opens the question of salvaging material from all buildings in general.

Optimally, Hitching post wouldn't require a rope to build. When you attach leash into one, the rope would go to it (ie. disappear from your inventory.)

This would require unknown amount of programming and new model for Hitching Post without a rope.

Clarification/elaboration: you can leash animals into trees, this way you don't need any ropes to build Hitching Posts.
