I just noticed I had swimming on and so I turned it off and tried to jump on the small land shore under a cliff, and then immediately drowned, EVEN THOUGH I HAD SWIMMING TURNED OFF. . Totally just killed the game for me. Two weeks of playing just completely gone to something so stupid.

Also I cant even really get my stuff i have to swim to get it and I cannot even take anything off of the corpse.

It's cliffs that are dumb, not swimming. Every cliff interaction is a terrible experience, with cliffs straight up ignoring limits like 'do not enter deep water' at the top of the list.

Also you likely saw misleading terrain transition and the tile you jumped on was actually deep water.
