Wax

Postby kirbmanboggle » Tue Sep 20, 2022 10:44 am

Please create additional ways to get wax or increase current wax rates,I feel like I'm playing wax simulator,I finished 3 credos before I got enough to make 1.5 mine holes worth of wax,it's extremely valued for something that should be relatively easy to make.

We can make wax candles or render fat candles why not (I have been told to remove this because it is gross,my apologies),fat wax,it would make sense that beeswax would still be more valuable, same with candleberries, relatively hard to find berries with high q attached,we don't have an easy low q alternative to make certain items that are necessary with it.

It takes 150 candleberries to get to level 3,a month in or more and I'm still only 75 in,I could also settle for getting more hardened leather from making it as it requires 3 leather and 2 leather to make 1,where does all the extra leather go?

In conclusion,I want to do other things other than sit around and get wax,I wanna get to mining,I miss it,it's my favorite part of the game, steel making is fun too and I wanna get my iron and finery forge going.

I was able to get to lvl 3 without much hussle and still had extra wax left to trade. Farming berries is no big deal for dedicated player and they're one of the few trade goods avaible for sprucecaps. Changing status quo on wax would hurt literally everyone. Btw farming wild beehives with bough pyre is surprisingly effective i was able to make 3 wax just casually farming hives that happens to spawn near my base.

You need to learn how beehives work. They can passively generate 1 wax per 13 rl days. Growing crops makes this faster. I don't know optimal setup for beehives but for standard field of radius 13 I'd use even 30 beehives for wax production. Since bough pyre addition making beehives is EZ.
Candleberry is only for mb 2 first layers. But you should actually focus on getting more beehives.

Wild bee wax should be way more wax efficient. People who need wax will get it from hives, and also larva to make their own domestic hives.

plant some crops???
It's fine as it is.
It allows hermits/small village to sell their extra wax.
If you don't have enough wax as an hermit you're doing it terribly wrong.

Join a village, then. Miners are in high demand. Mining isn't really worth doing for hermits/very small groups. You're better off selling wax for tools higher quality than you'd ever hope to make as a hermit. The low supply of wax is a good thing because it gives hermits something valuable to trade with.

OP is from parralel world or something.
My little ~1000 crop farm generates me 4-7 wax daily with less than 20 beehives.
And don't you dare to cry that it's hard to collect wild beehives

Lot of people underbuild beehives and don't realize 1 hive can only harvest ~50 tiles of monocrop. They put 1 beehive in a full radius field and call it good.
