Blacksmith credo quests and perks

Postby nero1141 » Sun Sep 25, 2022 12:31 am

curent blacksmith perks includes:

    Strength +15 & Smithing +15
More irrlights when smithing. (which are nice but not necessary usefull)
Reduced smithing time. (this one is good only for making bulk stuff like arrows)
Smelters built have larger inventories. (6x6)
Small chance to double output when smithing.

Now that spiralling is back maybe we can change one of those previous blacksmith perk:
"Higher chance to increase quality when pounding Wrought Iron."?

Another thing to note, im trying to do blacksmith for three weeks now and i dont know if thats my bad RNG or something, but i get more jewlery quests which includes precious metals, meteorite includes(like what the hell) than any other

With current changes to ore distribution across levels getting black ore is nearly impossible for small village in a reasonable time.

That said in my opinion either blacksmith should get better perks to make it more valuable for pursuit or at least move precious metal thing to new "jewlerer" credo which will be based on blacksmith and gem hunter.

It's a horrifically evil credo, so I'm very wary of suggestions to make it more important.

That said, for spiralling, you actually want less wrought and more cast. Or, honestly, just the ability to use wrought in the finery forge so you don't continually lose spiralled bars that you want to reroll.

this would be a dream- at least something that encourages actually pounding metal with your best smith
its really asinine that you're encouraged to have a spiraling alt that just has nothing but smithing and zero skills because you want the lowest chances possible to maximize spiraling chances

The whole Credos system needs are remaking from scratch.

Blacksmith is annoying to get, but it's an end credo and one of those with the best perks. So the only thing I would change is removing meteorite from quests.

credos are important, that's just the way it is

the whole "credos shouldn't be required" argument is so tired and ridiculous and it's the whole reason by blacksmith was nerfed in to its current useless shitter format

almost every other credo has straight up content-unlocking gatekeeping qualities or extremely desirable must-have bonuses

they are something fun to strive for and work towards long-term and it's completely okay if they offer something that is considered "must-have" by tryhard faction kids, they should suffer as much as possible for the poor life choices they make and the incorrect ways they choose to play this game.

Credos that are effectively mandatory should be balanced in such a way that they're tolerable first. Nomad for example is hard work, but it the majority of players seem to feel it's a fair credo for the benefits you get.

Blacksmith is evil the way it's balanced right now.

My rant is more about quests it have, we have full discord thread with dropped quests because i was fed up with it at one point,
it felt more like jewlerer that blacksmith, and because most of the jewlery things are hard to get for small village i thought that the benefits are not that good to pursue it and though counless time to drop it and change to gem hunter.
It might be balanced but the whole "better chance for irlights" seems just useless looking at other credos, i would preffer to get some psyche boost for those jewlery that i need to make for quests instead.

credos should reduce tedium and offer qol not be mandatory, as shitty as it is to deliver dhelmets just too get faster smithing speed, thats the kind of credoreward i would like too see on more credos, the quests are just shitty, the irrlights are an bit under the bar here though. and the smelterinventory although nice. is an step in the wrong direction. aka punishing villages for not having an smith.

The other way to make Blacksmith credo great again:
Perk More irrlights when smithing. --> make irrlights the main requirement for Armor Repair Kit.
Replaice perk 'Strength +15 & Smithing +15" by the new one giving the ability to repair metal armor using Armor Repair Kit made of rrlights.
The main idea is to make Blacksmith credo worth pursuing, make Blacksmith role unique and introduct some in-game Blacksmith services (repairing metal armor, maybe horseshoe for horse buff in future).
