yes, when paved outside it would rot and splinter giving you wounds each time you walk over it.
but for house interiors would be great. there is also wood polish already in game, so why not use it.

Just in case anyone needs to know this: if you pave stone in a house and want the wood back, you just (A)dventure -> (D)ig on the stone pavement to remove it.
