Change to animal quality nodes

Postby ChildhoodObesity » Fri Oct 07, 2022 12:33 pm

Make it so the quality of animals are changing to random locations every few days (maybe a week) rather than having set spawns. It's very lame to find your nodes and then farm them or bot them even for the entirety of the world. Hunting would be a lot more fun if you weren't just hunting the same area and were forced to constantly be exploring new areas to hunt good nodes. Encouraging people to explore more and look for new animal nodes is good for player interaction too. I can't really think of any downside to this other than people who are very set in their ways and like the ease of the current system, it's not very good design IMO though.

It'd also be cool to see way more high quality animals being introduced into the game. This world more than ever bone clay is consistently needed which requires a lot of hunting of course, it's kind of LAME that you have such little options on what is viable to hunt endgame. Bears don't get significantly higher than q300, mammoths don't get significantly higher than q400, then you're just left with whales/trolls and that's basically all you hunt for your top q bones. A wider variety would be very cool! Perhaps it could be cool if the maximum quality of other animals grew later into the world to achieve this instead of adding cool new stuff if that's too much work.

I would personally love a greater reason to roam around randomly doing shit and exploring, but this would be insanely cancerous with the variance in quality / rarity of topQ animals.

Pls lower variance and make finding topQ/near "reasonably" common if OP happens

Quality nodes are so fucking retarded, especially the fact that they can go up +500% over base quality.

I do also agree that the difference between the base quality and actual GOOD quality is way too high. The base quality of animals should be heavily adjusted and the difference between the base and the maximum should be significantly less yuge.

Also with the tool quality softcapping everything you get from animals it's not at all unreasonable to increase the base quality of animals.

Been asking for roaming quality nodes for years now.

Makes no sense that animals just keep appearing in the same spot as same quality always. Even if they changed with each season that would be fair.

Also, yeah, with tools now being a hardcap it kinda makes no sense that stuff like anglers actually have an even lower base quality. If an animal has a max quality of like 3-400 it should have a minimum quality of atleast 100, you'll be butchering it at low qualities for the first little while anyways.

I want animals to be like water and clay in legacy - you harvest it too much quality starts going down.

Animals should start at base quality and then go up in quality over time, and down every time someone kills an animal in that node.

All animals should be base q by default. Use wandering sage credo to create higher q nodes ¦]

Kinda hate the whole looking for animal nodes, but I also kinda feel like tameable animals should be another competitive source of bones after like 4-6 months in the world instead of after like, literally a year, also kinda wish potter's clay was Un-nerfed given the current system, would flow very well (in regards to bone clay capping out kinda relatively lowish)

Maybe could be some cool compromise like average animal quality of wild animals goes up with worlds highest tamed animals

I don't like nodes that much, it heavily favours botting. But at the same time, I hated random Q because people would just kill everything they see and ditch the corpse if it was low Q. I feel shifting nodes will be pretty close behaviour wise to purely random Q like in legacy.

I don't have a solution, just griping. Also +1 on animal breeding, optimal breeding with crazy herds still takes a billion years to produce anything.

Like I keep saying but no one listens, just bring back animal/civilization levels, you have to go way out into undeveloped mordor to get a Q400 bear or whatever.
