Is it normally this laggy?

Postby squeezy102 » Sun Oct 09, 2022 11:52 pm

This is my first world in H&H and my buddies keep telling me the game isn't usually as laggy as it has been lately.

Personally, I'm completely locking up for 5-6 seconds at a time, about every few minutes.

I also experience pretty significant bouts of rubberbanding, where I'll be running across our base and it feels like I'm taking 5 steps forward, 3 steps back.

Is this known/being worked on?

It seems to be getting worse and worse every day, and its to the point now where its actually pretty frustrating. Its to the point now where I don't want to do certain things in the game because I don't know when the lag is going to hit and I don't want to die.

Interesting, my game has been running just fine. I hear that it can be bad for some areas, though. I'm in the midwestern US.

Try using VPN. I set my location for a Germany and my game is less laggy.

It's not Just the distance/ping, I have 30ms and yes often the game stops waiting for response from the server. I was thinking It was cause the High Number of players, but even now that the population Is dropping keeps Happening.

It's not lag issue. The server just stops processing your grid. I have experienced something like this too, for example I'm fighting moose and game stops and when it runs again I have the same amount of openings. This has to be something server side, otherwise I'd get wrecked by that moose.

I've been meaning to post about this, every once in awhile the server noticeably hangs for 1-5 seconds on average, sometimes a bit longer. Mine & everyone I play with has the impression that its the entire server locking up, as we all live in different areas, + experience the lag at the same moment, and notice that other events in game don't continue during the hang. For example, if we are fighting an animal & the server hangs while chasing it, neither us nor the critter will of moved at all after the server is done lagging. Similar to what terechgracz stated.

Some days are worse than others, and I'm convinced its a server issue, not isolated to a few individuals.

Oh its definitely server side. Now that I'm over a month into the game and I've run into quite a few other hearthlings and made some friends in-game and on discord, I can tell you 100% for certain that everyone lags at the same times. For whatever reason, the server has the hiccups. Periodically lags about every few minutes for 1-5 seconds on the good end, and sometimes even 5-10 seconds on the bad end. I wonder if devs know?

It's run fine for me all world. Though "fine" is still rather skewed by the constant and pervasive lag I remember from legacy haven
