Give us an option to eat food for energy

I'm kinda hoping the reason you haven't done this yet is that you're planning on making a NOT AWFUL hunger system, but either way a nice stop-gap between now and then would be an option to eat food without it giving FEPs, hunger, or satiations. Most elegant way to do this would probably be it only giving FEPs if eaten at a table.

An almost as good, but definitely worse easier alternative would be to make certain foods (butter porridge, roast hoppers, everything from trees, honey gruel, grub-grub, mushroom spits, etc) never give FEPs or hunger.

Every time I leave my base I end up eating like 10 butter porridge not on a table, which is like 20% hunger. I like to leave my base and actually play the game a lot. Actually playing the game is noticeably making my character weaker.

Energy in general is a flawed concept that adds nothing but easily avoidable tedium for the sake of tedium. Its literally on the same level with mandatory shitting and pissing some enlighted minds keep suggesting from time to time. It has to go.

There's a reasonable balance between immersion and tedium when it comes to games that attempt to make you feel like your character is "real".

Ability to eat for energy, and a much more aggressive warning about starvation would solve this issue entirely. As it is right now, I don't feel crippled needing to eat bad FEPS for energy at least.

H&H isn't classic survival game where searching for food and spending it wisely is paramount core mechanic. You can't starve unless you doing it on purpose, easily accessible food is everywhere. Even when you on a brink of starvation naked and alone in winter forest you can feed on snowtops for half a hour and you good.

Do note, I didn't use the term "survival game". That was for a reason. I would peg haven's genre closer to wurm which also isn't a survival game. And in wurm eating is effectively mandatory as well.

I'd be fine removing starvation as the penalty for hitting 0 energy, but I wouldn't want to stop needing to eat in the game.
