Buff fish

We have wide variety of fish types in the game and despite providing different feps and in some cases having signature dishes attached to it, all the fish in the game is T1 or T2 ingridients (cave angler being the exception but it need to be hunted, not fished). I think some fish need to be elevated to T3 and be more rare/tricky to catch so fishermen has something to do in the lategame.

Fish recipes need to be influenced by infrastructure (part of why pan seered fish is so good) and they definitely need +2s occasionally to be competitive.

There are a couple fish recipes I'd still make, fish pie/clam bake/pan seered that don't come from cangler, the pan seered with zander being a notable standout. But that's mostly because those stats are lacking recipes more than anything. Overall I just don't have the desire to go bulk fishing for "okish" recipes.

Especially not when casting rod fishing with fisher's catch is the most annoying thing I've ever done in this game. I swear it increases lure loss, and since fish are biting like x4 as quickly the entire thing is just constantly slapping new lures on. This is double influenced by needing 1 specific fish, and if my 5 easily reachable fishing spots don't have a decent node for that one fish I just shrug my shoulders and don't bother.

fish is insanely strong this world. fryed meat and fish was buffed tremendously, and you can push fishquality by an lot with gridirons, or high q smokers.
with fish having rather high base, its one of the best filler foods in the game,
a few of the panseared recipies are competing with autumsteak, eel is the best source of agi besides seal, and ghostfish, one of the best psy foods before www.
if something needs buffs i belive its baking and pastrys.

Baking need a rework not buff. In fact most old recipies are completely broken and beyond useless in terms of fep/hunger.

Orca and walrus smash eel out of the park, DDDs are very good if people actually adapt to the new meta of hunger being less important. We've had piles of eels just chilling and never bothered to cook them.

Smoked/roasted fish is ridiculously unwieldy for any kind of bulk. Dried is almost always better and significantly less work. Loses the quality bonus, but why not just roast a moose meat instead?

Ghostfish just doesn't give enough PSY to care about. It's not good enough to worth bothering with. Unless there's a recipe I don't know about. You just chugjug cavebulbs until the better options come along.

I dunno man, your advice just doesn't line up with how I see FEPs, and I've been feeding characters to 300+ stats of multiple types.

maybee im just too noobish for that. i top off an lot with fish, and found variety too be more important due too satiations. currently have -200+ on every stat on one char, using ghostfish as part of the earlygame intrush has kept my psy way above any caps the surrounding villages encountered

I think in addition to this, the quality of fish could be looked at. Every fish has a base q of 10, and it doesn't seem to get very high. The highest fish q this world I've seen so far is 65. Base q of 30 on something like Sturgeon or Eel would be awesome.
