oh man that's bad. I think this could be easily fixed by just changing the recipe to only 8 string. Requiring nettle and taproot specifically sounds like a weird choice tbh, it adds no challenge since they're the easiest to find gatherable, just a headache I agree
I think this points far more to needing to overhaul the crafting UI as a whole. When you include alchemy and cooking recipes that cause hiccups and need specific combos of ingredients, haven's just moved past this simple UI.
I don't have a proposed one, I'm not a UI designer, but I know the number of crafts where this UI frustrates me is growing over time.

Just let us choose what material we want instead of the generic one.
So if it says "string" you could click on that and replace it with a list of things OR just hover with let's say flax fiber and left click on string and it changes it (for this crafting session) to flax fiber.
Don't know how this would translate to alchemy because i've never used it but it would be a start.
