Infinite Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Yearly Objectives?

Postby donatas081294 » Wed Jan 18, 2023 2:55 pm

Thoughs on what if we had optional infinite objectives that last for as long each world lasts with rewards of course.
They could start from very small like picking 5 berries to whatever extreme ends by the objective 40 or 300 or 9000.
They could be either jorbs/loftars added or community suggested objectives to complete on daily, weekly, monthly or how long the world lasts basis. (try to be sensible, so no killing trolls everyday XD).
Lore wise they could be like whispers of the ancestors, nature and/or gods (or whatever devs decide to call it).
I know this might come of as something like in gacha games, but I think sometimes it would be cool to have a new objectives so the burn out would be less common and each objective would be more taxing and also more rewarding from the last.
Not sure if it's good or bad idea, but just a thought. Since sure we have tree quests, but you like need to keep on walking backwards and forwards to it, we have the ancestors (forgot what it's called the one with the mask on a stoll) to bring random items, we have random lore events and credos for various of related tasks.
But these objectives could be random and also community suggested so there could be a massive pool of objectives that would come up for us to do in a spare time, because I thought having time limited dailies would be a nuisance and even bigger chore than daily upkeep tasks, so I guess having an objective that would stay up until you complete it would be less tedious.
Also the differences between achievements and objectives is that objectives can be player base/devs added, while achievements I feel like is more solely devs added of their choice.
What you lot think?

Not sure how this could implemented properly so there wouldn't be any trolling from the players side where for example an objective is to defeat 10 trolls and all they get is a wooden sign saying "yay you slain 10 trolls feel proud of yourself" or something like that.
I guess moderators could look at objectives suggestions, because if devs have to go through them, then there would be an extra load of unnecessary work for them to deal with on top of what they are currently doing.
Also I thought maybe implement an in game trade like system where either players themselves submite objective requiroments and then place an item/ currency as reward. (Then the reward is duplicated by who ever completes it so it wouldn't be only 1 objective for 1 person, but rather anyone can complete, but only once. Once it's done there shoulnd't be another the same objective per character). Also I thought maybe there could be a system that looks for keywords so trolling could be avoided. If for esxample a player submits an objective for others to complete and it requires to defeat, let's use a troll as another example then no less than 500q item can be place as reward or no less than 10K xp or 1000LP or something like that.
Lots of ifs and maybies depending how the system could be implemented and from which side would the objectives come from, only devs sides, devs and moderators or everyone including any player.

honestly i agree that there should be objectives that come in daily weekly monthly yearly sizes and they
should probably start with easy tasks and things that people can find early and grow exponentially
i have been pushing for the idea of achievements for a long time and i think this is basically the
same idea and it would be fun to have tasks that take a long time to complete and grow like this over time
you can spend a whole world trying to build up towards achieving the highest level of objective for
some tasks and get rewards for doing it that can last permanently on your account so you can show them off
i would really think it is exciting to pick thousands of blueberries if spending many hours doing this task
would reward me with a fun blueberry themed item after all of my hard earned hours it would be a great
way for nonpvpers to aim for profound and genuinely dickwavable achievements and have something
to flex with and the only price would be the time and effort involved and that is something i think we
can all spare to some degree so it would be a great equalizer between the inherent class systems in the
game and make people feel like their time spent is meaningful which sounds great because in a game
with so much tedium it can be difficult to feel that way especially when the players who are in major
factions seem to be blanket rewarded with so many great things after putting in so much lesser effort
like how some scrub can set up a market associated with a faction type of village and rake in 100s of
tokens and get some autist to built the whole thing for him its really not fair but while people are
creating these mega projects and hunting whales and trolls and all the things that the average player
simply cannot do it would be pretty interesting to see the dichotomy of what the average other
player might enjoy doing and hopefully it would create some real diversity and allow for new types of
gameplay styles to emerge because i think i would be way more likely to get impressed by somebody
who put in a very large amount of menial effort towards getting some obscure and interesting yearly
type of achievement more than i would ever be impressed by the game boring things that people call
accomplishments in this game like killing other hearthlings or creating a very high quality anvil in their
gigantic faction base so overall the idea of daily wekkly monthly yearly objectives sounds like something
i would definitely get behind especially if it is tied in to the achievement idea and comes with rewards
