Ha ok, I didn't say it was the purpose. If you're a lonely hermit looking for comradery, then joining a village or building near other players is an obvious solution.
If you're having trouble finding people to kill, then its a skill issue. You don't have to spend much time to find other players. Between thingwalls, whirlpools, and charterstones, it really doesn't take long to transverse the map.
