Yes micro managing cosmetics is more tidium the game shouldn't really have, it's true that it takes away from the realism of it but at least braziers last a long time and you can use them to get rid of excess coal which you always have if you're running tarpits 24/7
a workaround without killing the realism would be having some sort of fuel storage with a huge amount of range and you can just dump it full of anything you want to burn , logs , charcoal , sticks anything that can burn , dump the fuel into the fuel box or "fuel shed" much easier to just keep stuff fueled, firepits and couldrons still need their fuel but cosmetic things such as braziers or lamp posts can just draw fuel from there and stay lit, you build one on your claim keep discarding fuel into them and it's a win win situation you get rid of excess charcoal you make from constant tree farming and tar pits and you also keep your place nice and lit at the same time.
This would remove a big part of why clients have a night vision feature, people in early game can't bother to spend resources on light sources but even in late game when you afford it it's too much work to maintain them while you're already busy with everything, if you're managing farms , smelters , tarpits , animals, a slikmoth and even steel production , you are constantly giving yourself work , the game has a lot of work , even a thing as little as lighting and maintaining torches is a straight up murder and the only benefit you get "YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE"
