a humble hermits thoughts on improvements

A couple of things I have been thinking about that would be super cool and possibly easy enough to do.

1. Taming of lynx and wolves for domestic dogs and cats. Dogs could pull your kicksled, guard your gates, or help with hunting animals when they run. Cats could grab small game for you and scowl at you until you feed them.

2. Polar bears in winter. Much like the winter stoat. Also, potential bear dens, which seems like an obvious choice after the fox and wolf den addition.

3. Bouquet of flowers should be like the bug collection, and crafting it with 6 different flowers should make it actually worth studying.

4. More sea life! It gets so lonely out on the high seas.

1. While animal companions seem fun, if they are combat related it's too much balancing then it's worth. I like the idea of dogs for pulling sleds tho.

2. Bear dens might come very soon, since small dungeons are being added one by one lately, but when it comes to polar bears, it doesn't make any sense, let's not.

I appreciate all of these but believe Taming will be the last thing that Jorb and Loftar do. There's a lot of work there, but eventually it'd be nice. I can't imagine how hard it would be to tame a Lynx though.

1. Would be cheesed, 50 roped wolves lured into your house? nty (-1)

2. I could See polar bears spawning on a Iceburg, but they should be able to swim (as should moose and normal bears) Doubtful we would see this added. (-1)

3. Amazing! 1++; This would give more of a reason to keep pushing the Q of all flowers.

4. Pinniped Dungeon when? +1

I still love the idea of having useful domestic animals like cats and dogs, though I do agree that having dogs as combat companions would be hell to balance. However now that we have the mini dungeons I feel now is the perfect time to add these kinds of mechanics, with the wolf dungeons adding a rare chance to find a wolf pup that would be demanding to care for but would eventually grow up to be a tamed dog, Something similar could be added for the lynx. To avoid the issue of killing these juvenile animals possibly offering an unwanted advantage for progression simply making it so they provide low quality materials by default and only give entrails and basic bones would solve this issue.

As to the Polar bears I don't feel they really fit given they don't exist in the irl region the game is based on, though if they were added as a rare sight on an iceberg that would certainly be quite a sight.

I whole heartedly agree with the last two points, not sure why the bouquet doesn't already work this way, and seeing more ambient sea life would be a wonderful addition.

1. One day I'm going to count how many times pet dogs are suggested and change my signature to it. Need to make a counter post to this idea so we can just link people to it every time it's suggested.

2. Actually, why the hell not lol

3. Sure why not

4. I'm sure jorb has some ideas, Dakkan spams him with deep sea stuff all the time lmao.

Overall, and I said this somewhere else too, so I'm just gunna copy/paste:

To be really honest the game does not need new features right now. It needs it's current features fixed, refined, and/or removed. Lately the devs have been doing this and I hope they keep on this track for a little while longer before they get distracted again.
