Low-hanging fruit for Alchemy

Postby Vydrion » Sun Oct 01, 2023 3:24 pm

I'd like to propose the following alchemical recipes for possible quality of life improvements:

1. Liquid fire: Can be used on a flammable source to light it on fire. (essentially a replacement for firebrands)
2. T(h)ermite: Sprinkle on a log and light it on fire to destroy the log. Considered vandalism for the sake of crimes.

And potentially the following, although these can probably be abused one way or another:

3. Debilitating poison: This + any arrow(?) -> debilitating arrow , which slows any non-player entity by x% (for a time? until it despawns?) when dealt damage (has to pierce armour)
4. Aggravating poison: This + any arrow(?) -> Aggravating arrow, which speeds up any non-player entity by x% (for a time? until it despawns?) when dealt damage (has to pierce armour)

The first two are actually fine, can't say i find much use for thermite but w/e.
The second two:
First one is actually fine, i don't think many people will use it due to how easy hunting is but might be okay for luring mammoths into a trap.
Second one idk what use case do you imagine for it, but i can't really think of one except if someone gets aggro'd by a bear/moose and you want to fuck him over.

Increase base potion duration because stat potions only lasting for 2 minutes or whatever is bullshit

Skill issue, need to stack the "increased duration" -attribute on materials:

That looks like they added stacking to alchemical properties, it didn't use to work that way when I did my big test/writeup about it world after it was introduced. 50str for 9 minutes at Q60 is still pretty underwhelming for how late in the game you'll get it imo.

Step one would be to make the alchemic times be real world not haven time.

I'm down. Fond memories of W5 mining on pure cocaine driven power.

The 30 minutes is IN-GAME, not real time? Are you serious? Are you sure?

Pots being ingame timer has been a snub to alchemy since it came out that made me very annoyed since I was really proud of the alchemy work I did to find traits W12. Only to realize all buff potions were effectively useless. However I can't say I'm 100% sure, it worked like that at the start of W14 but stacking extra traits didn't work at some point in the past so maybe there was a change?

Two scenarios:

1) traits always stacked, but only in pairs. Possible I did 3 str and it didn't stack because it has to be str+str and str+str. This means it'd still be ingame time since it's probably not touched.
2) It was stealth changed (I looked at all W14 changelogs) and it could have been changed. Changing that to IRL time has been a request of mine for a while.
