no one and I mean absolutely no fighter is gonna travel 50 mins to grab my scent and have a chance at finding me.
this is all because the map is so abnormally large on a server with a 1k pop, I can kill and beat whoever I want with 0 repercussions because I know that the majority of fighters are lazy and won't go looking for me.
now this wouldn't be such an issue if thingwalls the content created to mitigate this didn't cost a metric fuck ton of will to travel anywhere.
either do 1 of the 2 things. make the world smaller so that it takes a minimum of 10/20 mins to go find my ass, or make it so thingwalls cost nothing so that anyone can travel to my location in mere minutes.
if you want to slow down the griefers make them run into other fighters, i have in all my time of playing haven not once run into a fighter while beating up people. nobody has ever tracked my scents why? fix this.
also fighters tend to not fight with out a snek so might as well just allow thingwall teleporting them? when im traveling around im always on snek it would be downright impossible to track me on foot.
I'm willing to take harsher penalties on Redland and outlaw if the world is smaller.
The way scents work is so unintuitive and stupid in general that I have never bothered to track anyone good, let alone go and grab their scents. Here is my proposed idea to spice up the pvp scene. remove the teleport timer on redhand and make the redhand timer 2 hours. Allow players to scry thingwall regions for active scents, all the scents located in said region will be displayed unkinned/unmemod players will be shown as ???, and if memod will display the memo name. u can spend an x amount of xp to retrieve said scent. with this scent u can right click any thingwall and it'll allow u to teleport directly to said players thingwall region without cost.
here are a few proposed ideas in no order just random thoughts that are up for debate.
- using said scent to teleport to redhanded players region, region locks the player for x minutes not allowing teleports.
- using said scent directly on the player region locks the player not allowing teleports for x minutes.
- depending on how high redhanded players int/stealth vs exp/perc is, it'll show ??? regardless of memo.
- horses should not be allowed through thingwalls ever.
- sneks should be allowed through thingwalls. (not sure about this one)
- scents should have unlimited uses only the cone is affected by int/stealth vs exp/perc.
- You cannot search a region if it's unknown to you.
- if the int/stealth is vastly higher than your perc/exp you won't find it in the list.
- (my fav idea from this list) leaving an enormous amount of scents in said region and being in active redhand will show your name to players that enter said region as a warning or a hint.
- thingwalls count the total amount of scents u have in that region and depending on the amount will commit its own justice on you by removing your knockout protection for that region.
- if the region you're searching is under your control retrieving said scent is free no xp cost.
- a character can only scry every x mins to prevent bots perma scrying for active scents
thingwalls are such a great addition to the game but are so underutilized. this shouldn't effect the pvp scene at all since its linked to active scents and not outlaw.
