Pvp Credo's and rabbits shoes

Postby overtyped » Tue Oct 31, 2023 1:58 pm

Bob Dole advocates for addressing the PvP credo's, particularly those related to the Forager and also Rabbit Shoes.

He would like for speed bonuses during combat with other players to be deactivated. He believes that there is already ample opportunities for showcasing skill through strategic movements, such as clipping, and good water management, and thinks there's no need for the chasing critter meta to continue.

Even in valhalla, Bob Dole is very easily able to drop combat without chasing any critters, but when you add this into the fray, it's just overkill. Its not skill at this point, it's just an oversight.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

kindof agree it's often too easy to escape(which is better than it being too hard), but if you're not having any trouble escaping people without speed boosts/kritters that just means the people chasing you aren't exactly the best runners

I held this stance for long time, then someone pointed out that it gives far too much emphasis on "did someone manage to aggro me?" to the escape game, and cancerous PvP meta where you have to ensure that you hold aggro on every combatant so they can't just go Sonic mode and zoom away.

I dislike critter clicking but there is something to be said for it adding some complexity to chasing, especially when the fight is not 100% one sided.
I do agree that requiring credo and bunny slippers is stupid tho, like credo is annoying to do but fine, i'll do one credo per world, but bunny slippers being best in slot unless you have a script that auto equips them when you click a bunny is retarded.
Just put critter chasing on a skill/credo(please no), and allow us to wear those steel yeezys without needing to script the bunny slippers (or use a hotkey every time there is a bunny, like bruh).

At the least bunny slipper's speed should be removed; critter chase speed could be changed that critters are less likely to run, allowing spruce caps that can't make a sling still feel like they can catch small game. (Nerfing out the PvP speed buff)
Having the speed buffs be in or out of combat feels wrong~ seems like that is setting up for some cheese drop combat to flank meta.

A side effect like that wouldn't be a huge issue I think.
