Pickling

Postby MachineLegend » Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:59 am

We have some cucumbers, we have onions, we have beetroot, we have many different meats, and I think itd be a really cool food preparation system to have pickling in the game. Pickling jars could be made from glass or clay fired in a kiln and left over time with brine. Perhaps brine could be a product of sea water or something, or the still could be used to to filter out the salt from sea water and then that could be made into brine. (although I know salt crystals are present within the game, I figured this process should not be tied to a localized resource). My girlfriend watched me play and said they should add pickles into the game so I had to make this post for her <3

I agree. I've found a lot of dill, but I don't have any recipes to use it in, pickles or otherwise. It could just use the clay jars that are already in the game, if they're good enough for alchemy they should be good enough for pickling. A glass jar alternative might be nice for both, though.

Pickled eggs
Pickled pigs feet
Cabbage -> Pickled Cabbage -> Sour kraut
Is that how sour kraut is made? idk

What's the dill with there being no pickles? Pucker power perks when?

Pretty cool to see a small consensus that pickling would be cool to see in the game. Could be a neat system with some solid depth, or a simpler preparation method. Might be nice too just to see more veggies on my table.
