Plant more than one square of grass at once

All other crops plant several crops at the same time, in a sort of "sowing" pattern.

I guess I don't understand why planting grass is treated differently?

The intended target is different.
Planting grass (or stones/pavement for that matter) == Terraforming. (Terraforming != Sowing/Planting crops)

... Still don't mean dev's could not change this of course. Although for pavement it kinda seems out of place.

i just plant grass in random spots on my lawn and let it grow over,
