Can we stop acting like the hitbox for horses is ok?

I understand horses have been in the game for a long time.

I understand that pathfinding and hitboxes in this game used to be WAY WORSE than they are right now.

I understand that the game is all about iterative improvement, and I understand its in "eternal alpha" and we can expect certain things to "have character," as it were.

These are part of the game's charm and why I love it.

The horse goes way above and beyond, though. Like... this thing is just fucking atrocious. And you know what it boils down to? Consistency. That's what bothers me about it. Sometimes I can walk up and grab a grasshopper on horseback just fine, other times I can't. Sometimes I run over a chicken and kill it, other times I gotta do like 2-3 passes to pick one up. Sometimes I can wiggle between my buildings, sometimes I can't. Sometimes I can go into a cave, sometimes I can't.

I have no idea what the fix is for this, or if it can even be fixed -- but whatever can be done to make the horse more consistent would be greatly appreciated. I don't even care if its "The horse always sucks and you can never do anything on it."

I just want consistency.

Just remove hitboxes and instead them implement hitpoints

It's not "the horse hitbox" that is inconsistent. It's all hitboxes.

My man I'm not looking for workarounds, I know the workarounds. I'm looking to get an obvious problem in the game fixed so I don't have to resort to annoying workarounds.

This gate literally cannot be opened from the inside on horseback.

I have to get off my horse every single time I pass by here. Considering destroying the house just to make it easier to pass.

For cave entry and the like, your hearthling needs to make contact with the object (cave entrance in this case), not your horse. If you move straight at it, the horse hitbox prevents your hearthling from getting close enough, but if you align your horse perpendicular to the entrance, your hearthling will be right next to it and you can enter.
