Seatribe should offer extensions for the client.

So similar to the tokens and shit they could offer extensions for the client that do things like move tree logs, chop down trees, allow single button harvest of dreams, auto butcher animals. Absolutely would get a return on the development time. Might be amongst better sellers.

Would be nice to have access to these kinds of things without paying an unk shady person.

Are you saying that people are selling access to 3rd party software based on the work of Seatribe?

Impossible. IRS would certainly know.

crazy times right?! but why not even the playing field a bit and feed the devs at the same time.

I know my villagers would all subscribe to getting some of those nice qol improvements folks got going.

We already pay for verified account and subscription, let's not add feature DLCs as well.

If you don't want to add it to free accounts, such features should be at least included in verified accounts.

i get what you are saying but the devs will cop out and say "dont have time to develop game and improve client, let the players make own client". they will get major returns on dev time if they did though.

simple scripts yes may be still in the realm of verified or whatever but then also buying the rolls royce or whatever too.

Sounds stupid and extra work for the devs...

Let's sell something that's open source and then make a closed source paywall that we have to maintain separately from the open source client and hope not to get sued for using someone else's open source code in our now closed source paywall structure...

Yes, the devs would likely be sued because it's much easier to track them down as opposed to some one off 3rd party that is doing things that are breaking copyright law.

so we are just going to pretend there arent clients with additional features that arent available to anyone except those factions or paid for?

im talking about using a little dev time to add those features and saying there is obviously a market for it so why shouldnt the devs capture it. wtf are you on about copyright shit? you dont think loftar could code similar shit to what is out there?

I'm not pretending anything. Just because they are breaking copyright law doesn't mean that the devs will enforce that law. Nor does it make it right.

Risk of exposure is something that any dev has to take into consideration. Does it mean that someone will file a claim, even if false or frivolous? No, but it is a possibility.

Disregarding all copyright issues that could arise from making the change you are suggesting let's look solely at maintaining two distinct client source codes.

One open source client free for all to use and modify. It is maintained as much as the devs feel is necessary for the game to function, currently Adding a second client with a paywall for what you are suggesting would be cumbersome if even possible at all. A paywall in an open source client would simply be snipped of any checks for payment and any checks that are made would add latency to the game.

I would love to see more features. I would love to see the devs and this game thrive.

This is, imo, not how that is accomplished.

And if you've never received a legal notice for something that you have developed, maintained, modified, or what-have-you then good for you. But if you have and the law couldn't find you... Maybe you know what I'm getting at...
