Coin minting should not be a 1:1 ratio by default.

Incentivize using better metals.

Lesser metal should give lesser yields, with only precious metals being 1:1 if any at all.


Example:

1 lead bar = 60 coins
1 tin bar = 60 coins
1 copper bar = 65 coins
1 bronze bar = 75 coins
1 iron bar = 75 coins
1 wrought iron bar = 80-85 coins
1 steel bar = 90 coins
1 gold/silver/rosegold/meteor bar = 95-100 coins

I would even say that metal quality should play a factor as well, or that they simply can't be made with any metal below bronze.

Does it really stand to reason that you should get a perfect batch of minted coins from a trashy q10 bar of lead every time?

Running a market and being a hub for trade should be expensive and not something you can rush within a week or so.

Would rather remove all coins all together and keep only silver/gold ones (I think this is how it was in Legacy?)

Implementing this idea would change nothing at all.
Letting material value decide coin's value would be terrible since all metals value drops quickly, which would make any market extremally unstable, in a long run forcing players to carry full inventories of coins just to get anything.
No, gold/silver are no exception to this.

Rushing market is not something you can do within a week since you need steel to make the coin press and that is still the easy part.
Running market and being a hub for trade is extremally expensive in most precious of the currencies in the game - time.

I don't know what other people think about it, but people running the market at WB consider it a charity project.
I bet people think we had a killing amassing hundreds of tokens gold etc. truth is it's just tiring, and simply trading things we produce would easily result in 5-times the amount of goods.
Most tokens that we gained were resold right after and even now given some away as prizes at WB end of the world event.

If it is so easy and lucrative, go ahead and open your own market, you can use whatever currency you want.

Implementing OP is a great way to kill all small markets and shops.
If you go around the world and talk to players you know they are littered all over the place.
You have some good ideas usually but this one is not it.

Nah, small market or not, even if you lower the amount of coins you get to 1/4 with the amount of bars people produce it won't change anything even for small businesses. You get 8 bars per smelt, so even with just 25 coins per bar you'd get 200 coins each time you smelted something, doubt it'd be issue for anyone who already got steel for coin press.
