Make irrlanterns permanently lit

I would, also, argue the same for other lantern sources but whatever (even if it means I can't use them to light other things anymore)

I would 100% decorate my base with lanterns and irrlanterns if they were permanent and I didn't have to refuel them periodically. It's not like lights and lanterns are relevant to anyone, this is pure larp and aesthetic - if you want me to stop using a client mod to remove darkness, then let me have a pretty base without requiring upkeep. Thanks.

Light sources in a light-source container (Torch in torchpost, lantern in lanterstand) should consume fuel at 25-10% the normal rate.

DO NOT make them unable to light things, that's the HUGE advantage of lanterns, BUT you could make it so once placed in its container a light source can't be taken out or lighted off, only refueled, if you don't like the idea of having a 1000 RL hour long lantern i can light things off.
Total misplay.

normal lanterns are fine as they are.
but there should be some intermediate solution,

i propose, leaving lanterns as they are,
keep the current irrlantern timing, for some lantern made out of fireflys, and a jug, that dosnt require quicksilver,
and make irrlanterns permanent.

It would be contrary to the philosophy of the game.

wat do you mean they're aesthetic only for larp? Lanterns are useful. Candles burn for a very long time, so you can leave them lit on lantern posts around your workstations, and light other workstations off of them (kilns, furnaces, ovens, etc).
I think candles burn for like 3 days straight. They're OP as it is, making them stay lit for essentially forever would depreciate the value of wax. But Irrlanterns ARE aesthetic only, you can't light anything from them, so I don't see why they can't stay lit forever.

would be nice to have light change when it's running low, mayb irrlight change color, or release sparks

also maybe irrlight could be fed with some magic items, dreams or whatever, maybe change light color depending on what you give it

yeah this is what my point was, like honestly who cares about whatever stupid microcosm of balance exists for "how lazy can i be about lighting fires"? i dont care if lanterns were *made* into being unuseable to start fires if it meant they could be used to decorate permanently

this is how retarded this community is.
it went from a perfectly fine, discussion, about the non lightable decorative lanterns becoming permanently lit,
to:
remove the best source of fire in the game, and make it identical to an already existing, cosmetic.
because i am incompetent to catch a irrlight, an rather waste wax

idk about you but i personally never bother beyond just having an eternal campfire near everything that needs it and running a torch around

lanterns feel like unneeded overkill and IMAGINE using matchboxes
