Willow Weep should work on Swamp Fever

So in real life, Willow bark contains a chemical called salicin, which has a fever reducing effect on the body (in addition to it's inflammation reducing properties). Therefore I think that the medicine Willow Weep should also include working on Swamp Fever.

Has anyone been able to craft Willow Weep? Everytime Ive tried it nothing happens and in fact it actually renders my cauldron unusable and I have to make a new one.

Am I doing something wrong?

Here is what I am doing:
I craft cauldron from clay.
Fill cauldron with water.
Add sticks under cauldron and light it.
Wait for cauldron to boil.
have fired clay jars ready.
Have willow bark ready.
When pot is boiling add the bark and then use a jar on it.

Soon as I apply the willow bark to the boiling cauldron it immediately displays an empty cauldron as if the bark soaked up all the water and disappeared.

When I open the cauldron the meter for water shows full even though the cauldron appears empty. So it wont let me add any more water. and I can no longer get it to boil so I cant even use it for anything else after that. So I just have to destroy it and make a new one.

What you are facing is preventive mechanic that disables the ability to produce higher quality water by putting high quality barks in the water.
To craft it, you have to craft like any other object in the game https://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Willow_Weep

Also, if aspirin helps for fever then why shouldn't willow weep for swamp fever.

Ok if it prevents the high quality water exploit I can accept that. I just have to ask though. Why couldn't they just create a new class of water like say willow water that cannot be used for anything but the willow weep recipe and have the regular water be replaced by the brownish willow water when willow bark is added to the cauldron?

As for the ringofbrodgar link for willow weep thanks I appreciate your intention to help, however, it appears to be the same page I've already been reading and rereading over and over attempting to figure out what I have been doing wrong and it offers precisely zero help in that regard.

If it is crafted the same way most other things are crafted then I should see it listed in the Medicine and First Aid section along side Stinging Poultice and Toad Butter right? So since I do not does that mean that I still need to discover it? If so what else must I forage or craft besides the willow bark and kiln baked clay jar?

The wiki entry just says to gather up the ingredients (3 willow bark and clay jar) then select "Use" on lit cauldron with sufficient water inside.
Ok so is right clicking on cauldron the same thing as "use"? If not then I have no clue how to "use" it.

it's very basics of the game. "Use" meant to execute the recipe, you can craft it only when standing on boiling cauldron. That exact the same mechanics like "roast meat" recipe and lit fireplace. If you has no recipe rediscover willow bark by collecting it from the tree and learn the first aid skill for 5k lp

have you aquired the "first aid skill yet?

putting the bark intoo the water just turns it intoo regular tanning fluid, wich isnt counted as water.

Yep. First Aid skill was my first priority in order to be able to craft first aid recipes. Then I read about what all ingredients were required and set about discovering and collecting those. ok so adding bark to water is not part of the recipe, got that much. And I do need to right click the cauldron to "use" it like if i were going to make glue or boiled mussels, got it. So all i am missing then is the recipe I guess. I've crafted and kiln baked the jars three times so far and collected willow bark many times. Is there another step in the discovery process I am missing?

Very strange. I decided to try my luck crafting willow weep with an alt to see if that made any difference. Not sure what the difference was because I had already discovered so much stuff with the alt. Soon as I gave him first aid skill I got the message that Willow Weep was discovered. And indeed it is now listed in the first aid recipes. So for some reason the mechanic is only broken on my main.
Oh wait.
Could severe wounds be preventing him from making any new discoveries or something like that? I healed him up as best as I could after a cave in nearly killed him and managed to stop him from getting any worse but the hhp is reduced to less than half what it was. So I was trying to learn all the first aid recipes I could to find way to get him back to full health.

EDIT: Thanks for resetting First Aid on my main. Soon as I repurchased First Aid willow weep showed up. Problem solved!

Swamp Fever is malaria so i don't see how a simple fever reducer would help.
Is she here, or here?!
