Can wardrobes be reworked?

Postby Kinglazy » Mon Nov 25, 2024 6:15 pm

The point of them is snappy gear swapping but the way it's implemented is bizarre.

We get 3 loadout slots with only 2 options to interact with them:
Undress into = Remove every gear and clothing type from the player in to the wardrobe that isn't already being used by the wardrobe slot
Dress From = Equip the player with every single gear and clothing type from that slot on the player if the clothing slot type is empty for it

I find myself constantly having to manually remove and re-equip things I use on every loadout, like the belt or backbag becuase otherwise the wardrobe removes it to the wardrobe slot. Is the intended playaround to have 3 belts, 3 bags or duplicates of my constant use equipment on each wardrobe slot?

Why not just have the wardrobe be a cupboard storage with the ability to program sets from the pool of clothings within it? I dump all my different sets in to it then preset 3 loadouts using the clothings within. If then I would switch to a different loadout, the cupboard just checks to what isn't matching in my current equipment to the preset selected and replace it from the wardrobe pool.

Can't you lock the slots to prevent it from being swapped?

There is a trick to it.

To switch gear, you undress your main gear in an empty wardrobe slot, you always want to have an empty wardrobe slot.
Dress from another slot, let's say a carpenter set.
And then you dress again from your main gear slot, that way you get your core equipment (backpack, belt, gloves...) back.

To get back to full main gear : undress in the carpenter slot.
Dress from main gear.
Dress from the carpenter slot.

Not sure if that makes sense, but yes, there is a little something to understand that will make you love the wardrobes as they currently work.

I just wished we could name slots, or have a stat recap, to workaround this I usually leave the tool with the set, like carpenter has a saw in the hand...

How? There is only the 2 options

open the loadout in the wardrobe(the third option, click on the equipment picture)
then click the slots to lock them, this will ignore pieces in those slots for undress/dress.

Having "Swap" button would still be helpful so we don't have to keep an empty slot to undress to.

you dont.

lets say, you have a psy forge set, consisting of a coat, a mask, and 2 pants.
you dissable all slots exept the filled ones.
now if you click on "dress from" it will only equipp, the relevant pieces, and hold the coresponding stuff you had on you,

if you now click on "dress from" again, you are wearing your old gear, and the forge set is back in the wardrobe.

My "dress from" doesn't autoswap, if citing your example I have pants on my self it won't swap it from the wardrobe slot, so for crafting set we usually need to fully undress.

It doesn't work like that, or am I missing something? You have to undress into to free slots first, potentially locking what you don't want to undress, then use dress from.
