They're just tiny little thingies, let us stack them
Also really hard to see on the floor, if you're unraveling cocoons and don't have half of your inventory empty they drop on the ground and you gotta use your carpal tunnel, arthritic hands and blurring vision, incredibly waning motor skills and hand-eye coordination to click the 2 blue pixels to pick them back up.

I agree with stacking.

Also there is a keystroke for "pick all", I think it's shift+rightclick. So if you make an overflowing pile it's easier to click any 1 and get all that fit in inventory as a result (which is unlikely to be a quantity greater than your inventory size unless you're shuffling Tsacks or something)
