Remove local pools

Postby SnuggleSnail » Sun Jan 26, 2025 6:12 am

I've been spending a lot of time not on the central continent recently and it's striking how much better it is for "PVE". I abandoned Edel related credo quests after searching for hours like 5 times, but literally every time I go to a mountain on the fake continents I waddle away with like 3 stacks of edels.

It doesn't even really matter outside of vibes, but IMO the vibes from it are really bad. I want to be in the populated social area, and I'm being punished for it. There isn't even an upside to local pools to justify this downside. There's no foragable anybody cares about botting, except MAYBE pearls/truffles, but you need to move for those bots anyway - so just make them move further and you've entirely circumvented the system anyway.

they should also review the timers on cave organs, etc to give more people a chance at trying out mechanics

the reason it was made was because things were abused~ removing local pools just allows those abuses to return.

Local pools are fine but they should have a limited supply that flows into other pools if they are full and the resupply of pools should be based on how much is pulled from it.

meaning more populated pools are filled with higher volumes, local pools exist and can be improved via drawing from them. This means that all pools are filled with a minimum amount unless untouched then the remaining is spread to more popular pools. want more of a resource, pick more of it increase your pool's supply. A nice realm buff could also be made to increase pool sizes.

Some of the items that are pooled make no sense. Like washed up bladderwacks- they're not particularly good curios and the only realistic function is for questing, making easy credos like forager just unnecessarily difficult

Full pool should definitely overflow into empty ones, regardless of distance. Otherwise you're overtly punishing people for even slightly concentrating their population.

Perhaps 'Local pools' should start overflowing into other pools when they're as little as 50% filled, and prioritise emptiest ones regardless of distance. (Perhaps a chance of "overflow" happening should be a chance based and scale between 50 and 100 percent?)

Based on my understanding:
*This should significantly reduce throttling of reasonably populated areas, while still stopping 24/7 bots (or at least making them far less effective)
*Travelling to sparsely populated areas should still allow you to plunder half-full pools

And to re-iterate, things like 'Washed-up Bladderwrack' should NOT be pooled.

An option would be to place the refill timer on the player not the pool. You harvest something and it will be a week, or ten days, or whatever, before it refills for you. But someone else come harvest the same pool the next day (and it would be a week or so before they could harvest that pool again).

Factionbois after that patch goes live:
