As long as it makes siege a viable option against anyone, not just sprucecaps

I don't generally like the idea making sieges easier, as it basically brings some sick meta of making game extremely enjoyable for small fraction of organized and skilled pvp players, where rest of playerbase lost months of effort for the sake of 1 hour fun of first group.
It was fine to have bashable palisades in legacy, and overall much easier raids, but with such bloated complexity of industries, building and setting things up from scratch is just unacceptable.

Claim and walls should be as untouchable as it currently is, I'm completely fine with full loot and even permadeath mechanics, but with full base wipeout there's barely a reason to stay in game after lost siege.
And I know safepalis is a pain, which also has been addressed by visitor gate rework, so I don't think there's any reason to do it.

TL;DR: I enjoy the option to avoid pvp entirely and stay inside of my base without making any risks, and consider it my fundamental right.

This assumes you are free from raiders for months.. if it was only a weekend, nay a day of effort would it matter? Rust it up. How many people quit the first weekend when vandal rusher raids happen? not many I would bet.
