So I've been thinking on how to solve this. Here's my thought process:
First idea: You simply can't logout with items in your inventory.
This sucks. I don't want to drop all my stuff in a cupboard everytime I have to logout. Even worse if I need to do so while I'm out the village.
So let's keep thinking.
Second idea: When you're offline, your HF becomes your inventory and can be accessed through Theft.
If the Thief can get to your HF, while you're offline (or even online?
Problem: I would place all the alts hfs in a different claim, maybe underground, while keeping the alts in my village, so I can still access it.
Let's keep thinking.
Third idea: What if you never went fully offline?
Just like we see characters sleeping in their bed, we could see them sleeping on the ground.
Your sleeping character could just be a placeholder for your inventory. People couldn't attack it, it wouldn't block movement, and so on. Only interaction with it would be Theft.
Alts are only really useful if they are in your proximity, so you can access their content easily.
I'm sure some people would keep alts in a different claim elsewhere, but at that point it's just like keeping the items themselves in a different place: would be very annoying if you had to travel back and forth everytime you need one of the items.
I think that could work. Maybe it wouldn't eliminate the issue completely, but for sure would reduce it.
Thoughts?
