World 16.1 speed is kinda stupid

World 16.1 is about 5x speed rather than 3.29x, which means you need to eat almost twice as much, get almost twice as many curios, and generally be twice as active, to even have a chance to keep up.

Yeah it works fine if you like playing 16 hours per day, but I wouldn't be doing that even if I was in a wheelchair and without a job.

Some time ago you made satiations go up/down slower, but this 5x speed literally turned it back to the old worse one.
Mining pyres were added to slow down that rush to level 9 and allow slower/more casual players/players with a life to keep up, but now this 5x speed is kinda moving it backwards. I know it's a shorter world, but you could've also decreased the str requirement to mine at lower levels and also the material requirements of mineholes, rather than just making players grind stats at 2x speed. It was already stupid when people had to reach level 9 in 2 weeks by having a whole village force-feed a single miner character.
Don't get me started on the curiosity grind with the new speed, or animal taming requiring people from 4 timezones to always keep an eye on them.

Yes, you do need to adjust the speed of *SOME THINGS* when you make the world significantly shorter. Increasing the overall game speed is just retarded. The effort you need to put into grinding is just increased and the world is artificially shorter.

Whatever this is, I can't be arsed to do it lol
And I'm pretty sure 800 players active after less than a week was not caused just by you making it impossible to properly secure a caves during the first days. This speed crap has to be part of the reason at least.

Agreed. I understand that it's an experimental world and that some things might benefit from a shorter progress time (wounds/healing, drying/tanning, among others) doing a blanket speed-up of every time-based process is just completely wack. It's pretty bad because, when done sensibly it might make Haven into a game that respects the player's time a bit more, but the very opposite of that is happening. Also, if this had been announced with detail in the World Announcement thread the devs would've gotten this exact same feedback and maybe dialed back the change a bit or do it in a more involved fashion, case by case.

I agree, it's bad.

Lol, lmao even. They asked people for cool ideas for experiments, people provided cool ideas. How many of those ideas were added? Zero. They wouldn't even read your feedback.
Marking forum read since World 2.

They've dialed back changes after heavy backlash. Most notably the idea of gilding gems on metal equipment
You're right though, this probably wouldn't have gotten enough traction to avoid its current implementation

“shorter world” is putting a lot of faith in devs to not just go radio silent for 12-18 months

I mean everyone agrees that some things have to be faster in a "6 month world". It was advertised as a 6 month world anyway

In theory I like that it disincentivizes the hyperoptimal style of gameplay by making it gayer and more annoying to maintain, but I think in practice it probably just widens the gulf between the autistic elite and the proles.

Pretty much this.

The only way to discourage the ultra-autistic META gameplay would be to add rolling stat caps, and we know that ain't gonna happen sadly, because 3 retards that like grinding 50k stats rather than playing the game will complain. Oh and the cheese bot losers too.

Faster game speed should make the game less tedious not more. If it makes game more tedious or grindy, then it means game sux
In the beginning was the Radio Silence, and the Radio Silence was with Jorbtar, and the Radio Silence was Jorbtar.
The same was in the beginning with Jorbtar.
All updates were made by them; and without them was not any update made that was made.
In them was development; and that development was the light of hearthlings.
