Reduce risks of harvesting beeskeps

Postby Mr_Bober » Sun Dec 28, 2025 9:54 pm

As a farmer, I harvest my beeskeps daily for wax, and every few days for honey. Every few skeps I get stung, leading to a grand total of around 150 damage per day -as beestings get worse the more you have.

I think there should be some way to reduce such risk. I propose 3 options:
- Option 1: change the Bee Dungeon completion bonus to something like "Domestic bees don't sting you anymore" (or greatly reduced chance).
- Option 2: replace one of the Farmer credo bonuses (i'd change the milk one, given herder is the animal-oriented credo), to something like described in Option 1.
- Option 3: add a beekeeper hat, gloves or some other piece of specialized gear, in order to remove or greatly lower such risk.

Let me be clear: my fields are not particularly large, and I do not (yet) have hundreds of beeskeps.
Some people use an alt to avoid this issue, which is fine but shouldn't be a requirement. I don't mind a few stings, but getting 15-20 stings a day really stings -pun intended.

also add in wasps which can, routinely, attack your bee colonies and kill them requiring you to use bee larvae on them to 'restore'. You may also catch the wasps during their attack on the hive and kill them in combat to avoid this issue.

New wound type: Wasp sting

You should honestly be able to smoke them out in a similar fashion to using a bough pyre to make it safe to harvest

Maybe a smoke thingy you can hold and pump? The bough pyre is extremely slow, would kind of suck having to spam a bunch of those every day. But I guess still better than nothing.

Yes, perhaps equippable bellows like the kind that are attached to the stack furnace, which is an actual method to produce smoke for bee-keeping irl
