1. Hovering over an item in the inventory, holding the ALT key could display additional, more detailed information about that item
Currently, item tooltips are quite minimal and often show only basic info. More detailed or hidden mechanics usually require external knowledge or wiki usage.
How it would work:
Hover over an item → current tooltip (basic info)
Hover over an item + hold ALT → extended tooltip with detailed stats and mechanics or flavor text
This keeps the UI clean while still allowing players to access deeper information when needed.
Here's and example from DOTA 2:
Holding ALT while hovering over items or abilities in DOTA 2 usually reveals exact values, scaling details, additional mechanics and explanations
Possible information shown in Haven & Hearth
Depending on the item type, ALT tooltip could include:
- exact stat values and modifiers
- quality influence details
- durability and wear rates
- crafting-related information (this could be shown when hovering + ALT over item crafting icon in crafting menu)
- softcaps / hardcaps (if applicable)
- any non-obvious or hidden mechanics
- lore/flavor text
2. Item locking / “favorite” system (Terraria-style)
In Terraria, simply hovering over an item already shows very detailed information without extra input, including modifiers and exact stats (in HnH it should be only working when holding ALT tho).
Another related quality-of-life feature would be an item locking (favorite) mechanic, inspired by Terraria.
How it would work
Player can lock / favorite an item in inventory (BY HOLDING ALT AND CLICKING THE ITEM)
Locked items:
- cannot be moved automatically
- stay in the same inventory slot
are ignored by actions like:
- quick stack
- transfer all
- mass item movement via scroll / shortcuts
Why this would be useful:
- Prevents important tools, gear, or containers from being accidentally moved
- Makes inventory management faster and safer
- Especially useful during crafting, farming, or base organization
- Already a well-tested and intuitive solution in Terraria
Why these features matter:
- Better accessibility for new players
- Less reliance on external wikis
- Cleaner UI with optional advanced details
- Faster and safer inventory management
- Proven mechanics successfully used in other games
Overall, these would be relatively small changes with a big positive impact on usability and player experience.
