"you cannot go through entrances while nidbane is haunting you"

if you cant cheese nidbane with stairs or door hopping suddenly it is an relevant mechanic

sounds solid.

did they buff nidbanes? Previous world i was afk for like 5 minutes came back and still shit on that little ghost.

Lets all be real here, currently Nidbanes are only dangerous to people who have no idea what they are doing. Anyone who would realistically deserve to have a Nidbane sent at them is able to wipe them out no issue. making it so you cant cheese them would be a good change, but id also suggest making them scale with the person they are chasing, you have 2k str and agi? well guess what the Nidbane has 8k.

Nidbane is a very good idea, but completely useless...

I think nidbane shouldn't be like entity that you fight with. I think it would be more like "duel challenge", I'm thinking about something like this:
1. Nidbane chases it's target but be passive
2. Target can right-clicks nidbane and choose "accept duel" or if he doesn't want to, his character should be punished with slow healing wound (potentially fatal)
3. Choosing "accept duel" teleports the sender and the target to instanced Valhalla where one side fights for their life and one for revenge
4. Because it should be asymetric sender can't die in this fight while target can.

This will be abused and is actually bad idea. But maybe it's not? At least we wouldn't need to look for people to fight, you could leave Vandalism scents everywhere and someone would send duel challenge.

as some1 who gets nidbaned all the time i find them kinda scary to fight actually, if it wasnt for the cheesing I would potentially get fucked up

Nidbanes should split like slimes the longer it takes to fight them, send out a ghostly trunk gunk every 5 secs they can't reach you (that can't be blocked by objects), enrage while low hp, burrow underground randomly for 3 to 50 secs, rawhide anytime they see a horse, if they can't reach you start busting stuff up by making cavein ghost fires that spread, sprint away from you when they have really low hp and heal overtime.

Awful suggestion.
- The slow healing is nothing but a timeout, compared to the risk of death. And with Alchemy, it would be very easy to get around it by turning your wounds into something faster or easier to heal anyway.
- Those who can't fight, which are the majority of crime victims, would lose any fight regardless, making something like this completely pointless.

Nidbanes should be the nuclear option. Make them expensive if you want, but make them truly deadly.
Alternatively make them fuck with your stats. It's no longer something you fight. it drains your stats: 5% for Theft, 15% for Vandalism, 25% for Battery or Murder.
You can even make the Fetter be more expensive if that's too harsh, markets make anything accessible to anyone anyway.
