Idea. Add more fence options. Plank. Stone.
Reason. The existing fences are insufficient.
Some use a fence made of woven branches and stone initially to protect an area from animals and surprise attacks. Later, it's usually used only as a fence around an animal enclosure. The protection is very weak.
Palisade. Log fence. The main "fence" in the game. Good protection, average beauty. Brick fence. Very reliable. They are rarely built, perhaps because their appearance clashes with the era and other structures.
Suggestion.
1) Add fences made of planks. There are some made of branches, some made of logs, but for some reason, no fences made of planks. Although there are also planks and even nails. The main function is decorative. A fence around a house, garden, or some other plot. Protection - won't stop a person or a large animal, but it is a serious obstacle for medium-sized ones.
Options:
a) A "classic" fence with a sharp triangular top. 3/4 the height or the height of a person (1.5-2 m). A smaller version is also possible for smaller fences (0.5 m). * with the option to hang clay pots or skulls on them - whatever you prefer.
b) A simple fence made of 3-meter boards with small gaps between them. This option is not very necessary, but it is an alternative to a palisade around the house inside the property.
Recipe: boards or boards + nails.
2) Add a tall, thick stone fence.
A wooden palisade is nice, but if you have tons of stone and everything you need for mortar, why not build a "fortress" stone wall? It will look more harmonious than a brick fence and is an alternative to a wooden palisade.
You can even keep the appearance of a small stone fence, just increase its size and height.
Recipe: stones + mortar (water + lime + sand + egg)
For mortar, use whatever people used in the past. The main historical substitutes for cement were:
- Lime mortar: Slaked lime mixed with sand was the main material for masonry and plastering for centuries.
- Clay: Used in earlier periods and for budget construction, often reinforced with straw or reed.
- Cement mortar: Crushed brick or ceramic chips added to lime mortar to increase strength and moisture resistance.
Organic components, such as egg whites, whey, animal hair, or blood, were added to building mixtures to improve plasticity and durability.
