var = more fences

Idea. Add more fence options. Plank. Stone.

Reason. The existing fences are insufficient.
Some use a fence made of woven branches and stone initially to protect an area from animals and surprise attacks. Later, it's usually used only as a fence around an animal enclosure. The protection is very weak.
Palisade. Log fence. The main "fence" in the game. Good protection, average beauty. Brick fence. Very reliable. They are rarely built, perhaps because their appearance clashes with the era and other structures.

Suggestion.
1) Add fences made of planks. There are some made of branches, some made of logs, but for some reason, no fences made of planks. Although there are also planks and even nails. The main function is decorative. A fence around a house, garden, or some other plot. Protection - won't stop a person or a large animal, but it is a serious obstacle for medium-sized ones.
Options:
a) A "classic" fence with a sharp triangular top. 3/4 the height or the height of a person (1.5-2 m). A smaller version is also possible for smaller fences (0.5 m). * with the option to hang clay pots or skulls on them - whatever you prefer.
b) A simple fence made of 3-meter boards with small gaps between them. This option is not very necessary, but it is an alternative to a palisade around the house inside the property.
Recipe: boards or boards + nails.

2) Add a tall, thick stone fence.
A wooden palisade is nice, but if you have tons of stone and everything you need for mortar, why not build a "fortress" stone wall? It will look more harmonious than a brick fence and is an alternative to a wooden palisade.
You can even keep the appearance of a small stone fence, just increase its size and height.
Recipe: stones + mortar (water + lime + sand + egg)

For mortar, use whatever people used in the past. The main historical substitutes for cement were:
- Lime mortar: Slaked lime mixed with sand was the main material for masonry and plastering for centuries.
- Clay: Used in earlier periods and for budget construction, often reinforced with straw or reed.
- Cement mortar: Crushed brick or ceramic chips added to lime mortar to increase strength and moisture resistance.

Organic components, such as egg whites, whey, animal hair, or blood, were added to building mixtures to improve plasticity and durability.

3) Fence and palisade made of bones.
A new gate has come out. And I realized that I hadn’t thought about the fence made of bones.
People accumulate a lot of bones. Perhaps building a fence or palisade of bones would partially decide where to spend them. It also diversified the appearance of bases or individual areas.

a) Fence made of bones.
Bone is used for making and bone glue is used for the corner posts.
It would look good as a fence for graves or a thematic area - a warehouse for skeletons, a fence for a pen for animals to be slaughtered, an alchemist's house, ...

b) Palisade of bones.
Large bones were used for construction, and possibly skulls for the corner ones. Bone glue or something to hold them together. Almost like a regular palisade, only different materials.
Such a palisade would go well with the new gates, would appeal to fans of bones and PvP themes, hunters, and would add variety to the appearance of the bases.

Also would love the ability to decorate palisades/fences/walls with lights, flowers, skulls and banners of various types. I almost wonder if we have such a thing already -- I have not experimented much with lantern posts, but I'm pretty sure they can't be build on a palisade yet.

Yes, over time, you want to turn from a village surrounded by a wooden palisade into a fortress with stone walls.
I don't know about decorate - I haven't gotten there yet either, but the opportunity to decorate is always an opportunity to create something original and creative.

I agree. I think, like you and me, this idea has occurred to many people. Let's hope that it appears in the game.

Yes, a "fence" in the form of a hedge is a good idea. You could use them to build parks and labyrinths. You can't build such things with bushes.

Don't know how to react. I'm glad. Feel like should respond, but what can say that?
I feel like a fan who was discussing with others like him how to improve his favorite team's play, and then their coach walks by and says, "Yeah!"
And we watch him go, waiting and hoping.
