Butter storage- Barrell or firkin

Can we get Butter storage in barrels

Method: Butter was often salted and packed into wooden barrels, kegs, or containers made of birch bark.

Findings: Archaeologists have discovered these containers, with some butter dating back thousands of years and remaining technically edible

I don't like the implication of this idea that butter would need to be preserved over time or it goes bad.

I think the idea is to store butter in barrels, not in a cupboard. Perhaps because the churn is outside. Just like the cows.

And the salting example was used as a historical argument for storing butter in barrels.

I've never tried putting butter in a barrel and never had the need, but if they can be stored safely in a cupboard, then why not?

It is ment more as an easier storage than anything else. Some people go through a lot of butter when cooking and having butter in CB requires space while it could be stored elsewhere, like other piles of food :)

Got it. Yes, that's what I understood. See the post just above. Are you for or against this idea?

One small chest can contain an amount of 36 stacks of 3xButter, which equals 108 pieces of butter, which is more than, I assume, "100 liters" of butter in a single barrel. Now consider metal cabinets, cupboards, garden sheds if you're an outdoors kitchen player like myself.

This is purely a flavour object request with no QoL improvement to it whatsoever.

Unless the idea is elaborated into, say, a new cooking ingredient "melted butter" that can be stored in a barrel and after a while it cools down and solidifies and may be "harvested" as ordinary butter and melted again (quality spiraling? combining special type butter into generic butter?), I'm against this idea.

...or just give us a stick of butter takes 16 units of butter and a parchment. Has 16 uses as butter, and when all 16 are used leaves us with a buttery parchment~ a curiosity to study, or be reused as parchment.
