I like how long living fire sources are working, I genuinely enjoy keeping lanterns alive at my base using them to fire ovens, smokers and smelters.
I also like there's tiers for them, so using fireplaces, torches, braziers or lanterns you can preserve fire for longer depending on which resources are available to you.
Though with candles being the longest living, in W16.1 it doesn't seem sufficient to preserve fire for long enough, and I've been thinking that it might be nice to have some advanced mechanic to preserve fuel even longer.
Add oil lamp, crafted with advanced materials that can be filled with liquid fuels.
Make it consume any liquid fuel it filled with once it's lit, with consumption speed depending on fuel type:
- Vegetable oil to consume fuel fast, e.g. 2 RL days.
- Rendered animal fat to consume fuel slower, e.g. 3 RL days
- Lamp Oil (Tar processed in Still with 1:10 ratio), e.g. 5 RL days
- Hvalraf to last up to a RL week on one fill.
Listed solid materials should turn into liquids of it's type once put to lamp, though I don't know how much fuel should they fill, 0.25, 0.5 or full lamp?
