i know it's annoying but using the vanilla client to create the crash logs that will be sent to the devs AND reporting them in the forums will bring that faster to their attention. So go ahead, give tha vanilla a try to reproduce the bug so devs will (hopefully) have no coice than to fix it.

Used Hurricane v1.57b to do something not easy to do in Ender ... And on returning to Ender a whole slew of markers where being reprocessed, and the player icon in the map-view was of course gone again. And all markers (in extended map window) where in a gray state. ... sigh, client restart again (+ the usual crash on closing Ender).
Ergo: Verified different clients not working nicely together.
+ Closed clients before starting other one.

Hurricane and default work fine, I'm not having any issues between them.

Try testing against the default client, rather than Hurricane

Why would I try to use the default client for something I know it will also not do.
Besides Ender can do that himself (so could you ofc ... .), ... or he can ask for it.

(Account login passkeys handling might 'still' be an other one ... Some custom clients do seem to read the default client account settings when needed, but don't write to it. Other don't use it at all. Ergo: Both leave all other clients in the dark about potential passkeys changes.)

I might be biased but I personally trust Nightdawg when he says that Ender has done something that makes his client incompatible with anything that's not an Ender fork (at least in terms of this map-marker thing.)

Admittedly I haven't used Default in ages, but it should also have the "player icon in the map-view?"

You test against the default client to figure out if it's something Ender's client is breaking. It's not rocket science mate.

Default client is the source. Always test against default client, not other custom clients.

From my understanding you're having some errors with map icons, and you assumed my client causes them too. I'm not having any of these issues, and I tested against the default client.

I'm not saying any of this stuff to downplay Ender. I'm saying it to help isolate the issue and figure out the root cause. If you say you open 40 different clients and can't figure out which one's breaking what, it's not helping anyone.
We can see the perfect example of this happening when this man assumed I'm touching the map caching code, which I'm not.

Do note that updated clients will now save the map in a format which older clients are unable to read, so if you resave your map by logging in on an updated client, you may find it difficult to return. Backup your maps if you are worried.

Ender doesn't have this week's changes yet.

yeah it's in the patchnotes. once you have your mapcache updated you can't use client's that don't have these changes yet.

Changelog suggests otherwise.
