There is this analogy, Imagine that all the knowledge you have is in the form of a rope, in your case, you have just enough rope to hang yourself. Algorithm nailed it a page ago, you clearly aren't experienced in different paradigms enough to comment on the matters of what javascript is, and isn't useful for. Javascript has undergone dramatic changes over the years, and the sources you like to cite are probably referring to when javascript was mainly used for webpages, now a days it has a wide range of uses. I don't use javascript myself, as I'm not a big fan of it. But even I can't deny the usefulness it has in the world at the moment.
What's funny is the claim that javascript isn't suited for bots or scripting api's, however javascript was heavily influenced by languages such as scheme and lisp (javascript being a functional language as the prime point), both of which are quite heavily used in AI / Bots.
