Reinstalling the client does not remove the old settings. Nor does removing the file in the system user folder. Nor does doing both simultaneously.
Where are the settings located?
reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\haven" /f

I am also experiencing all these problems with Amber 1.38. I am trying to fix it. I also have Windows x64. Oracle website keeps telling me my device has the right version of java installed but I can't verify this myself. Going to the Java Downloads page gives a huge list of Java products with descriptions written in geekspeak that I don't understand. Can I ask what Java version you are using for x64? Is it Java version 8 update 101?

Yes. But you should download standalone installer for windows x64 by yourself. Automated Java installer will setup you x32 version, and idk why... Maybe just becouse it's Java...

You need Windows Offline (64-bit) version
