You'd need to have Java Web Start enabled in browser to launch the jnlp file ... -> Java Control Panel (javacpl.exe) -> Security Tab -> checkmark at top

right click .jnlp -> Open with Java Web Start Launcher

It downloads the needed files then starts default client

Or use a custom client from Wizards Tower Subforum that you store on your PC and launch by included run.bat

the run.bat for Amber should look like this:

Code: Select all
start javaw -Xss1024k -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar hafen.jar -U https://game.havenandhearth.com/hres/ game.havenandhearth.com

this is probably why it won't run. Make sure you have the correct client from this thread.

Also: merged with the Amber thread. The "Bugs" forum is for gameplay issues and issues with the standard client.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I'll fix it so it won't crash the client in the next update. But the main reason why it crashes is because you either don't have default web browser set on your system. You can verify this by trying "xdg-open http://google.com" from the terminal.
Or you're using a Desktop Environment which does not work well with Java's way of opening web browsers (from what I am finding on the google - KDE is one of them (although maybe it does work now, the bug dates 5 years back.))

There seems to be some weird character in your user name - "Mahir Onur ?ener" which might have a part in these errors.
Try running the client(s) from a different location.
