Hey, its all right. I'll try to spend the time to make sure I keep the Ethical-Copy-Pasta automatically updated so everyone has an option to opt-out. I've already spent a few moments at tackling the updater and automating the merging needed. Just got to spread awareness of the it all until then.

It's pretty unfair to leave members of the community in positions like this. We all greatly appreciate your efforts but the devs should really just remove the client from the forums entirely.

I agree, knowingly allowing a client that breaks certain privacy laws is as bad as hosting it themselves. The devs should not be allowing Shubla to advertise any of his nefarious projects on the forums. Im fairly sure most other games would have completely banned Shubla by now.

I considered it, but I think you'll have to argue for that a bit harder if that is the case. I think the current solution is at least acceptable, and while shubla may seem a bit unrepentant, I also don't feel there was any ill will behind it, in which case I think you would do well to remember that forgiveness is also a virtue. Astarisk and algeralith don't need to maintain a version of it anymore than anyone needs to use the client to begin with.

Now now, let's not go overboard. To begin with, the GDPR is not a criminal law, and also its interpretation is still being figured out. I don't think that it is at all obvious that shubla's actions contradict it. It is not self-evident that any of the data sent would be classified as personal data, nor that any "processing" is going on.

Yo Shub's, got a concern from an ally. They're seeing a map marker on their base. They do not use Purus Pasta, they did follow a link to the vatsul hnhmap.

What's the possibilities here? Did someone upload a map marker on their village to mark him? There's no way you could be pulling data from other clients from just from a link, right?

I think the former is far more likely. If so, be aware your map is being weaponized.

EDIT: New theory, we're using the same link, one of the offline villagers may have made the marker. So we're seeing the same map from the same token, right? This means you must be careful marking thing on maps linked publicly

Sadly, there is no facepalm emote. Y'all be complaining on something that has an easy fix. Just use a different client, the maker doesnt have to put in an opt-out since there are other clients for you to use, he holds no monopoly.

Too true except there aren't any alternatives. Although I missed the fine print that said we were providing this info, I'm glad its available. Really magnifies the need for a solid client. *cough* devs... (I know you gave it love already not long ago).

A map available to the public like this hasn't really been available except for the select few titans, in return we crowdsource our info. Some more transparency would be nice but still overall we are grateful to have a good client.
