Ok as we had a strange discussion in village already i want to come back to the avg. quality forumla here.
u say that we have some items here that use a quadratic formula to check which benefits they will give. that might be true and for this items a quadratic avg ql formula is usefull.
but this only counts for this special items. like nettle cloth or bunny sliper or whatever.
it does not count for the items u use to craft this stuff. if u craft nettle out of avg ql 34 stuff u wont get a avg 34 nettle part as result. mostlikely it will be like ql 30 or something.
thats because the craffting formula in every ql is arithmetic and not quadratic. a quadratic formula values items with wider spread stats higher then normal arithmetic formula.
but in crafting results u normaly get more evened out quality numbers. (especialy that early in world where u dont have to many stuff to choose from)
here an example with extremer numbers:
u craft an item out of 3 parts
1. 10 10 100 (avg amber= 58,3 ; avg normal=40)
2. 10 100 10 (avg amber= 58,3 ; avg normal=40)
3. 100 10 10 (avg amber= 58,3 ; avg normal=40)
resulting item will be (cause of arithmetic formula):
40 40 40 (avg amber= 40 ; avg normal=40)
so amber just made u think u craft a pretty awesome bunnyslipper (

)
but the difference is almost 50% here.
ofc this numbers are extrems and in real usual craftings u mostly only loose like 3 qualitiy lvls comared to what amber shows u... but still its annoying.
so to make it short.
yes quadratic formula is usefull but only for finished items that also use this formula.
but for every other item in game (like 98%?) a arithmetic formula gives u a much better idea of the value of your items.
i hope my english was good enough to explain it
and thx for this great client anyhow!
